If anyone had been in our St Peter’s Place offices on Sunday 16 July, the view out of the window would have been about as different as you could get to the normal, tranquil sight of St Peter’s Church in its lovely grounds, surrounded by flowers, trees and birds singing!
That’s because there was a huge fairground ride right outside as you can see in this photo below – just one of the many attractions at Fleetwood Tram Sunday.
Tram Sunday, or Fleetwood Festival of Transport to give it the full title, is a huge annual event for the town, with a focus on all things transport. It takes over the whole of Memorial Park, Lord Street and the Euston Gardens, along with all the side streets including of course St Peter’s Place. It’s estimated that 60-70,000 people come along for a full day of family entertainment.
Here at Jones Harris we’ve been involved with Fleetwood Festival of Transport for many years.
The event is organised by a team of volunteers, acting within the structure of a Community Interest Company (CIC) which ensures that all income received through grants and sponsorship is reinvested into the not-for-profit event, year on year, to ensure its continuation and sustainability as a free to attend event.
At Jones Harris we produce the year end accounts for the company and give advice when requested by the Committee, usually on an informal basis. If you would like to get involved in the event next year, please get in touch and we will pass your details on.
