National Apprenticeship Week 2024
This week is National Apprenticeship Week!
The week brings together businesses and individuals who are passionate about apprenticeships in order to celebrate the value, benefit and opportunity that they bring.
Here at Jones Harris, we believe we have a duty to identify and support talented young people at the start of their careers. Our experienced staff have the capacity and knowledge to nurture and support both our latest apprentices who have come to us via very different starting points. We benefit from their enthusiasm, questioning and up-to-the-minute training.
Discover their remarkable apprenticeship journey so far.
Callum Hall from Audit & Accounts
I embarked on the Apprenticeship Programme after completing my A Levels and having worked through the various stages. I am now almost qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant.
Starting my career through an apprenticeship not only enabled me to gain the practical knowledge needed, but also the ability to apply the knowledge whilst working through real world applications.
Having this incredible opportunity to complete my earlier qualifications via the apprenticeship route has significantly assisted my progress to be at the point I am today. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Jones Harris say “Callum is a very highly regarded and skilled accountant. His level of competence and knowledge has made him a valued member of the team. We have high hopes for Callum’s future with us’.
Charlotte Edwards from Bookkeeping and VAT
I graduated from the University of Reading with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology. After my degree I took the time to evaluate my future and applied to work in the Administrative Department at Jones Harris.
It was here I was able to get a sense of the business as a whole and gain an understanding of what an accountancy firm does for its clients. I was then offered a chance to become an apprentice and become a qualified bookkeeper. I couldn’t say no!
It was not a career I had considered until working at Jones Harris, but I am relishing the opportunity.
Since September I have been working in our Bookkeeping and VAT department and attend college on day release. I have started my AAT Level 2 qualification in Accounting and am now one exam down with three more to go. Jones Harris are supporting me all the way.
I have been fortunate enough to undertake this career change with colleagues who have been incredibly supportive and willing to take the time to train me and share their knowledge. There is a lot to learn but it helps to know I have wonderful support around me each day.
Jones Harris say;
‘When Charlotte arrived at Jones Harris as a fresh faced and highly enthusiastic young graduate, we quickly recognised her potential. We invited her to start an Apprenticeship with our support and are delighted with her progress. Another one with a strong future at Jones Harris!’
We couldn’t be prouder of what Callum and Charlotte have achieved so far in their young careers. Their enthusiasm and dedication, and desire is admirable.
The value they add to our business is unmatched. Because of them, we are able to continue to deliver a high quality of service, really making the Jones Harris Difference.
